How to Build a Simple Wood End Table
A wood end table can accentuate the décor in your home. These can be made out of any type of wood. Certain types of wood are more expensive, which makes the end tables more expensive. - 1 1/2-by-3 1/2-inch cedar lumber, 38 feet
- Hand saw
- Tape measure
- Pencil
- Jigsaw
- Epoxy glue
- Large clamps
- Clean cloth
- 250-grit sandpaper
- 150-grit sandpaper
- Polyurethane
- Paintbrush

Cut the cedar lumber to the correct lengths with a hand saw. Cut 14 pieces measuring 28 inches long for the top slats and four pieces measuring 14 inches long for the legs.

Measure a top slat with a tape measure and mark 2 inches from each end. Mark 3 1/2 inches from each mark with a pencil and mark 1/2 inch from the outer edge of the slat. Connect the marks and cut along the lines with a jigsaw to make notches.

Arrange the top slats on a flat surface. Place the two notched slats in the second position on each end. Glue the pieces together with epoxy glue and use large clamps to hold them in place. Remove excess glue with a clean cloth. Allow to dry.

Sand the assembled top slats with 250-grit sandpaper to remove rough spots. Sand the top slats with 150-grit sandpaper until the entire top has a smooth finish.

Place the top on a flat surface with the bottom side facing up. Insert the legs into the notches and use epoxy glue to secure them. Allow to dry.

Apply a coat of polyurethane with a paintbrush and allow to dry. Sand the table with 150-grit sandpaper and apply a second coat. Allow it to dry and sand it again. Apply a third coat and allow it to dry. The end table is complete.
