Instructions

    • 1

Pick off the Japanese beetles from the plants and place them in a jar. Although this is time consuming, it does help remove the insects from your yard and garden. Place a lid on the jar to remove all air and kill the insects.

    • 2

Mix dish soap with water and spray your plants and lawn with the mixture. This spray helps kill the beetles, but it also kills off other bugs that are good for plants, so using this mixture has its downside.

    • 3

Apply Neem oil to the plants your Japanese beetles are drawn to. This product does not kill off the beetles, but it does create a foul taste for the bugs, forcing them to move someplace else (maybe your neighbor with the prize winning roses?). Thoroughly coat the grass, trees and bushes to keep the Japanese beetles away.
