Panic! The floppy disk won't come out! Luckily for you, there are a few things you can try.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper And Binder Clips
  • Mac OS 9.0
  1. Step 1

Drag the disk icon to the trash. It should eject (it will not throw away). Select the disk icon and press Command+Shift+1.

  2. Step 2

Open a stiff paper clip and insert the long end into the small hole just beneath the floppy drive.

  3. Step 3

Push straight in, carefully but firmly. The disk will eject. (This almost always works.)

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep a paper clip handy.
  • Make sure your emergency paper clip is thick enough and stiff enough not to bend or break in use.
  • This method also works for a stuck CD-ROM or an internal Zip drive on desktop or laptop Macs. External Zip drives have an eject button.

on 12/2/2008 would be nice if someone could or would give a pictoral of what the opening looks like and if any models don't have it. I cannot find it on mine.
