How to Give Zimecterin Gold for Heartworm Treatment
Horses can have many digestive parasites; it is important for the owner to control and prevent them. Zimecterin Gold is an oral paste used to fight parasites and de-worm horses and foals over two months of age.
Instructions
-
-
1
Move the horse to an area where there is no food, and keep the horse's mouth clear of food.
-
2
Find the weight of the horse by using a weight tape, or calculate the horse's weight yourself (see resources).
-
-
3
Remove the Zimecterin syringe from the package. The plunger is marked with 250-lb. increments (up to 1,250 lbs.). Slide the ring to a spot closest to your horse's weight. Lock the ring on the slider by turning it three-fourths to the right. Take the cap off the syringe.
-
4
Insert the syringe between the horse's teeth and as far back in the mouth as possible; aim it toward the center of the horse's tongue. Depress the plunger to deposit the paste onto the back center of the tongue.
-
5
Tip the head of the horse up so that the horse swallows the paste.
