How to Make Your Own Song Online for Free

Computer programs are useful for creating music, but a lot of music software is expensive. Luckily there are websites that will allow you to make your own song for free. You can study music theory and learn chords while hearing how different instruments and styles blend. This is a good way for beginners to learn how music is put together and a way to create a one-of-a-kind song to share with others.

Instructions

1. Go to a website that will allow you to create your own music right on the site at no cost such as Jam Studio (See References). Sign up for an account.

2. Choose chords to create your song. Preview the chords if you need to hear them first by clicking the "preview mode" button in the bottom left corner of the chords box and clicking on each chord. Scroll to the next page by clicking the arrow in the upper right corner to fill in the chords, or just work on one page at a time.

3. Select the instruments that you want to play your song. In the box on the lower left, you can choose either the recommended instruments or other ones found in the drop down menu in the box to the right.

4. Click on the music style that you want each instrument to have, such as country or rock, and drag the bars in the "tempo" section up or down to speed up or slow down the music. Click on the play button to hear what you have so far. You can keep working to get the sound you want. Click the "save" button in the upper left of the page to save your work.
