How to Fix iTunes & Vista Problems With a CD-ROM

Problems with your CD-ROM can take many forms, including not being able to detect disks in the unit, not being able to "see" the CD drive through the operating system, and not being able to utilize the CD drive in applications such as iTunes. Fixing this problem is best accomplished by reinstalling the drive to the system and undoing the damage.

Instructions

1. Click "Start" and type "Device Manager" into the "Search" box.

2. Press "Enter" and open the "CD/DVD Drive" menu.

3. Double click on the drive that is experiencing problems.

4. Click "Driver" and click "Uninstall."

5. Restart the computer. Your PC will automatically reinstall the drive at startup, resolving the problems.
