Troubleshoot computer monitors.

Flat screen monitors, like other monitors and television screens, may run into display and playback issues while in use. This can quickly disrupt your computing experience as the displayed information may appear dull, fuzzy, or the monitor may not power on at all. Whatever the issue is, you must correct and troubleshoot the problems in order to begin using the flat screen computer monitor as it is intended.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the cable connection running from the computer to the flat screen monitor. Ensure all of the cables are inserted securely and the screws on the cables are hand tight. A loose cable results in either the image flickering in and out or no image at all.

    • 2

Power down the monitor, leave it off for about a minute, then power it back on. If any display issues are causing the image to appear dull or display incorrect color the powering down process may correct this issue.

    • 3

Start the computer up in "Safe Mode" (boot the computer, press "F8," then select "Safe Mode"). Once in safe mode open "(My) Computer", choose "Properties", "Hardware Tab," "Device manager" and select the plus sign next to the Monitors. Select the monitor, right-click it and choose "Uninstall." This removes the driver from your computer. Restart the computer and the driver automatically reinstalls, correcting any display issues you are having with the flat screen monitor.

Adjust the rotation on the monitor screen if the image, for some reason, appears flipped. Open the "Control Panel," choose "Intel Extreme Graphics," then click "Rotation." Deselect the rotation box and click "OK" to fix the issue.
