How Can I Make a Backup Copy of Windows XP?

Creating a backup copy of your Windows XP operating system will enable you to rest easy, knowing that you have a copy should you suffer attacks by viruses, spyware, or other threats. You can do this by using the Backup utility in your XP operating system to create a complete backup of your system, which will enable you to restore your computer to working order in the event of a system failure.

Instructions

1. Click "Start." Open "Programs," "Accessories," "System Tools," and "Backup."

2. Click "Back up files and folders."

3. Select the option to back up "All information on this computer."

4. Select the location where you wish to store your backup copy.

5. Press "Finish" to create the backup copy of your Windows XP system.

Tips & Warnings

• With the Home edition, you will first need to insert the Windows XP CD, double-click the "ValueAdd" folder, "Msft," and then "Ntbackup." Then install the backup utility by double-clicking "Ntbackup.msi."
