The Windows XP operating system comes preinstalled with a digital clock that pins itself to the bottom right corner of your computer screen. You can change the date, time and time zone, and even change the clock from 12 to 24 hour time. But one thing you cannot do is change the clock from digital to analog. However, there are several free programs available that allow you to replace the Windows XP digital clock with an analog clock.

Instructions

  1. Option One

      Go to the cnet.com, click on the "downloads" tab and then type "Analog Clock 2.2" in the search box.

      Click on the first result--Analog Clock--and then choose "Download Now."

      Click "Save" to save the file "analogclock_2_setup" to your desktop.

      Locate that file on your desktop and double-click on it. Follow the prompts to install the program. The program will replace the standard Windows XP digital clock with an analog clock. In addition, a small calendar will appear when you move your mouse over the clock.

    Option Two

      Go to clox.net and click on the "dowoload" tab.

      Click on "ClocX 1.5 beta Standard" if you are using the Windows XP 32-bit operating system or "ClocX 1.5 beta 2 Standard x64 Edition" if you are using the Windows XP 64-bit system.

      Click "Save" to save the "ClocXstd" file to your desktop.

      Double-click on the file you saved to your desktop and follow the prompts to install the program. The program will replace the standard Windows XP digital clock with an analog clock. In addition, you can right-click on the clock and change where the clock is pinned to the desktop, the appearance and the transparency. Moreover, the clock comes with an alarm that you can set.

      Go to sharewareconnection.com and type "Elprime Clock Pro" in the search box. Choose the first item in the list of results, which says "Elprime Clock Pro."

      Click on "Download" under the image of the clocks.

      Click "Save" to save the "ElprimeClockPro" file to your desktop.

      Double-click on the file you saved to your desktop and follow the prompts to install the program. The program will replace the standard Windows XP digital clock with an analog clock. In addition, the clock comes with an alarm clock which you can customize to play .wav files.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you wish to restore the Windows XP default digital clock, simply uninstall the analog clock program that you installed and restart your computer.
