How to Edit Pictures on Photofiltre

You won't need any experience in digital photography to get high-quality results when editing with PhotoFiltre. And though the free photo editor lacks the sleek interface you'd find in commercial utilities, PhotoFiltre's powerful selection of editing tools and low learning curve make the program useful for novices and advanced users alike. However, there are a few key tools and techniques you should become familiar with to help you get started using PhotoFiltre.

Instructions

    • 1

Download a copy of the self-installing version of PhotoFiltre, then install the program. Launch PhotoFiltre after the installation process is complete, then open a picture to edit ("File" > "Open").

    • 2

Select a shape for PhotoFiltre's selection tool from the "Set Shape" menu ("Selection" > "Set Shape"). The shape you choose will be used when you crop a section of the photo (e.g., if you select a triangle, the selection tool will make a triangular crop).

    • 3

Click on the picture. Hold the mouse button down and drag the cursor across a portion of your picture to make a selection. Click in the center of the selection. Select "Crop" from the drop-down menu that appears--to crop your selection.

    • 4

Click on the "Filter" heading at the top of the program to add filter effects to your picture. Move down the drop-down menu that appears and hover over a filter category, such as "Sharpen" or "Noise." Select a filter from the menu that appears next to the category option (e.g., "Filter" > "Color" > "Sepia" to add a sepia tone filter).

    • 5

Click on the "Adjust" heading at the top of PhotoFiltre to tweak the exposure of your picture. Select an option, such as "Hue/Saturation" or "Color Balance," from the drop-down menu that appears beneath the "Adjust" heading.

    • 6

Save your work when you're done ("File" > "Save as").
