1
Decide on how you will use color to paint your son's room. There are many options to choose from, including stripes, painting stencils or murals, using one solid color or a contrasting color for two opposing walls. When choosing the color(s), think of the furniture that will be in the room and the type of energy you would like the room to have. Certain colors are thought to affect emotions differently. (For example, a bright yellow room won't have the same calming emotion as a light blue room.)

2
Prepare the room to be painted. If you have already moved furniture into the room, move it all to the middle. Cover the floor and all furniture with drop cloths. Line tape around the floorboards, where the walls meet the ceiling and around light switches and electrical outlets.
