Plastic gutter guards keep debris from entering your gutters.

Cleaning leaves and debris from gutters is a dangerous task, as you can slip and fall from the ladder or misstep and damage the gutters. Installing gutter guards will stop leaves and debris from entering your gutters. Plastic gutter guards are not only quick to install, they snap into place, eliminating the need to carry multiple tools onto your roof. This allows you to keep both hands on the ladder as you climb and minimizes the weight you're carrying as you work. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Hook the end of the tape measure on the left side of a piece of plastic gutter guard.

    • 2

Place a mark 3 3/8 inch in from the guard's left edge, on the snap side of the plastic gutter guard, with the permanent marker.

    • 3

Cut off the snap with the tin snips, making sure you cut the snap back to the 3 3/8-inch mark. Repeat these steps for every piece of gutter guard you'll install.

    • 4

Set up the extension ladder on the right-hand side of the gutter.

    • 5

Slide the back edge of the plastic gutter guard over the back lip of your gutter. Pull the gutter guard forward to snap the guard onto the front lip of your gutter.

    • 6

Move the extension ladder down one plastic gutter guard length to the left and repeat Step 4 to install a second piece of gutter guard. Make sure the right side of the plastic gutter guard butts up to the end of the 3 3/8-inch cut on the snap side of the previously installed gutter. This will ensure that no debris enter between the ends of the gutter guard.
