Solar Light Fence Post Directions
Cutting back on electricity to make a house greener was made easier with the invention of affordable solar powered exterior lights. One variety of solar power lighting is a solar light fence post cap. Since you need no wires to power the light cap, installation is quick and requires little in the way of hand and power tools. After you install a solar light fence post, it is virtually maintenance free, with the exception of occasionally changing the long-lasting rechargeable batteries used to store the power generated by the light's solar panel. Things You'll Need
- Tube of construction adhesive
- Utility knife
- Drop-in caulk gun
- Phillips screwdriver

Remove the cap of the solar light per the manufacturer's directions.

Cut open the nozzle of the construction adhesive tube with the utility knife. You need to cut the nozzle on a 45 degree angle with an opening 1/4-inch in diameter.

Place the opened tube of construction adhesive into the drop-in caulk gun.

Apply construction adhesive to the bottom side of the solar light cap and immediately push the light cap onto the top of the fence post.

Remove the top of the solar light cap. Insert the supplied Phillips screws through the mounting base of the solar light cap, into the top of the fence post with the Phillips screwdriver. Some solar light cap models do not require Phillips screws to secure the light cap to the fence post.

Pull the plastic tab from the solar light fence post cap and move the light switch to the off-position.

Allow the solar light to charge for 48 hours before moving the light switch to the on position and re-installing the top of the light cap.
