Instructions

    • 1

Measure the item that you want to frame. For example, if you will be building a frame for a recessed television set, measure the length and width of the front of the set, as well as how much the set sticks out from the wall.

    • 2

Cut four ¾-inch thin wooden boards so that they are 2 inches wide by 16 inches long for a standard 22-inch flat-screen TV. Use a power saw, such as a powered miter saw to make the cuts.

    • 3

Cut four ¾-inch thin wooden boards so that they are 2 inches wide by 18 inches long.

    • 4

Attach two of the 16-inch long boards to two of the 18-inch long boards to form a box using wood glue. The boards should be attached to each other so that the two 18-inch long boards are attached to the inside of the two 16-inch long boards. When you are done, your box should be 22 inches by 16 inches. Clamp the pieces together until the glue dries.

    • 5

Attach the remaining two 16-inch long boards at a 90 degree angle from the box frame at the 16-inch sides. Repeat this step with the remaining 18-inch long boards on the 18-inch long boards of the 22-inch long sides of the box frame. Use wood glue to attach the pieces. Clamp the pieces until the glue dries.

    • 6

Smooth out all the edges of the frame with sandpaper and finish the frame using wood stain or paint. Allow time for the finish to dry.

    • 7

Place the frame over the television set and drill 4-inch long screws into the corners of the frame to attach the frame to the wall.
