How Do I Stencil a Sphere?

How Do I Stencil a Sphere? thumbnail
A sphere is a 3D circle like a ball or a planet.

A sphere is basically a 3D circle. According to Princeton's Word Net, a sphere is a three dimensional surface which is closed, and every point on the object's surface is at exactly the same distance from the center of that object as any other point on the surface. A stencil may be used to create the sphere's central shape, a circle.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a circular stencil over a blank sheet of white drawing paper.

    • 2

Place your pencil hugging the inside edge of the circular stencil and draw a circle by dragging the pencil along the entire inside edge of the circular stencil.

    • 3

Lightly shade the inside of the circle so that the circle gets gradually darker on the outside edges while staying lighter at the center. This will create the illusion of a 3D circle, otherwise known as a sphere.
