How to Unplug a Maytag Dishwasher
When it is time to replace your Maytag dishwasher, or you need to pull it out of the cabinet for repairs, you will need to unplug the dishwasher. Unlike most appliances, the dishwasher is hard-wired directly into the home electrical system. Wires from your home connect directly to your dishwasher rather than a power cord. You will need to disconnect the house wires at the terminal box below the dishwasher to unplug your Maytag dishwasher. Does this Spark an idea?

Turn the off the circuit breaker to the dishwasher in your home electrical panel box.

Remove the two screws securing the top of the toe panel to the Maytag dishwasher with a Phillips-head screwdriver. The screws will be between the bottom of the dishwasher door and the top of the toe panel. Locate and remove the two screws on the bottom of the toe panel with the Phillips-head screwdriver. Pull the toe panel away from the dishwasher and remove the service access plate that is behind the toe panel.

Locate the electrical terminal box on the lower right side of the Maytag dishwasher. The terminal box will have the electrical wire going through the back or side. Remove the screw securing the green ground wire screw to the side of the box with the Phillips-head screwdriver. Remove the two screws that secure the terminal box cover to the box and remove the cover.

Turn the plastic caps that secure the dishwasher wires to the house wires counter-clockwise with your fingers. There are two sets of wires, one black and one white. Twist the plastic caps over each of the individual house wires.

Loosen the star washer that secures the cable hold down clamp to the terminal box. Remove the star washer and push the house wires through the back of the terminal box. You can now remove the dishwasher from the opening.
