How to Find the Product Key for Microsoft Office License 2007

Use a key-finding program to track down your Microsoft Office 2007 product key.

All editions of Microsoft Office 2007 require the entry of a 25-character product key during the setup process. This key works as a piracy deterrent, since it can only be used to activate a single Office 2007 installation. Find the key on the back of the Office 2007 installation disc case if you purchased a hard copy of the software, or in a sales confirmation email if you bought the product online. If you do not have either of these items, download and run one of several free key-finding programs to locate the product key value associated with your Office 2007 license.

Instructions

Using Product Key Finder

1. Log on to the website for Dave Hope's Product Key Finder (see References).

2. Click the "Download" link and save the resulting file to your computer when prompted.

3. Double-click the icon of the file you downloaded in Step 2.

4. Scroll down the list of programs until you reach the "Microsoft Office 2007" label. Your product key is listed to the right of this label.

Using Win Keyfinder

1. Open your web browser and log on to the website for Win Keyfinder (see References).

2. Click the "Download" link and save the resulting file to your computer when prompted.

3. Double-click the icon of the file you downloaded in Step 2.

4. Click the "MS Office" button on the left-hand side of the window. Your key value appears in the "Product Key" field on the right-hand side of the window.

Using Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder

1. Open your web browser and log on to the website for Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder (see References).

2. Click the "Download" link and save the resulting file to your computer when prompted.

3. Double-click the icon of the file you downloaded in Step 2. Click the "Extract" or "Extract All Files" button, and save the contents of the file to your desktop.

4. Open the desktop folder containing the files you extracted in the previous step and double-click the "keyfinder" icon.

5. Single-click the "Microsoft Office (Edition Name) 2007" item on the left-hand side of the window. Your key value appears on the right-hand side of the window.
