How to Check the Status of a New Jersey Tax Refund
If you have filed income taxes in New Jersey, and are due a refund, then you're probably eager to know when you're getting your money. Depending on how you filed your return, you will receive your refund via the mail or via direct deposit. Unlike the federal government, New Jersey does not have a website where you can check the status of your return. However, you can call a toll-free number to learn when to expect your money.

Call 800-323-4400 from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware or Maryland. Call 609-826-4400 if you're calling from another state.

Enter your Social Security Number when you are prompted to do so.

Enter your refund amount when you are prompted to do so. The automated phone system will then tell you when and if your refund was mailed, and when you should expect to receive it. If you requested the your refund be direct deposited, the automated phone system will tell the date it was deposited into your account.

Tips & Warnings
If you filed a paper return, your information won't be available via the automated phone system for six to eight weeks.
