How to Change Your Address Online for MVA

Most Maryland residents can change their address on Maryland's Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) website, but in a few instances--if you have a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and you want to change your address; if you are requesting an address change to a PO Box, APO or FPO; or if you are changing the address of your business--you'll have to go to an MVA office.

  • Maryland driver's license or ID card
  • Date of birth
  • License or ID number

Instructions

      Log onto the MVA website (see Resources). Select the "Change of Address" link located in the upper-right corner of the website under the section titled "Do It Online." Scroll down to the bottom of the web page and click "Continue."

      Enter your identification number and date of birth as it appears on your driver's license number or ID card. Click "Submit."

      Enter your previous address as it appears on your driver's license under the section titled "Address On File With MVA." Enter your new address under the section titled "Changed Information Only." Click the "Submit Entry" button. A change of address card will be sent to your new address. Keep this card with your driver's license until you are due to renew your driver's license, which is every five years.

Tips & Warnings

  • For security purposes, the MVA will send a confirmation notice of your address change request to your previous address . Contact MVA customer service center for additional information at 800-950-1682.
