How to Change the Webcam Resolution on My HP Laptop

By Steve Gregory

HP laptops that have a built-in webcam are sold with the CyberLink YouCam application pre-installed. The application allows users to take pictures and capture video using the webcam. If the quality of the pictures or video you take seems low, you can edit the settings in the software to increase the resolution of the images and video. The resolution of your HP laptop's webcam depends on the settings in the YouCam application.

Click "Start," then select "All Programs."

Select "Cyberlink YouCam" from the list of installed programs, then click "YouCam." The Cyberlink YouCam window opens.

Click the "Configure" icon at the upper right corner of the window. The icon is a box with a wrench and a screwdriver in it. The Settings window opens to the right of the main YouCam window.

Click the drop-down box under "Capture Resolution," then select the resolution you want the webcam to have from the list.

Click "OK" to save the new resolution for the webcam.
