How to Convert a PowerPoint to Microsoft Word

Converting a PowerPoint presentation to a Microsoft Word document creates a document containing thumbnail slides of your presentation. Because PowerPoint presentations are large files consisting of images and transitions, converting them to a Word document enables you to send a smaller file in text form to a recipient. It also allows you to print the presentation information.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your PowerPoint presentation and click the "Microsoft Office" button located on the top. Scroll down the pop-up menu and select "Publish." A submenu appears.

    • 2

Click "Create Handouts in Microsoft Word." A new window launches. Click the page layout you want to use in the "Send to Microsoft Office Word" dialog box.

    • 3

Click "Paste" and then click "OK" if you want to paste content that will remain static, or unchanged, when the content in the original PowerPoint 2007 presentation is updated.

    • 4

Click "Paste Link" and then click "OK" if you want to ensure that any updates that occur to the original PowerPoint 2007 presentation are reflected in the Office Word 2007 document.

    • 5

Click "Microsoft Word" to launch the word processing program. Save your document by clicking the "Microsoft Office" button and clicking "Save as." Type a name for the document and click "Save."
