How to Advertise a Successful Painting Business

How to Advertise a Successful Painting Business thumbnail
Paint businesses should target homeowners, apartment buildings and condominium complexes as potential clients.

Our culture is so saturated with advertising that it's difficult to catch any consumer's eye. You have to be imaginative to stand out. If you have a successful painting business, it is possible to target your services to a proper audience and to take advantage of easy, inexpensive, yet effective, ways to promote your business.

Instructions

  1. Effective Advertising Techniques

    • 1

Order and design advertising materials. T-Shirts should have your business's logo and phone number. Place an order for small yard signs and have business cards made if you haven't done so already. You should also have a nicely made flier on hand. If you are unable to make the flier yourself, a local print shop should be able to make one for you.

    • 2

Ask your current customers to place your business's sign in their yard while you are completing the job. Provide them with a free T-shirt upon completion of the job. Having customers wear your company's logo and phone number is great advertising for your business at minimal cost.

    • 3

Talk to local Realtors and ask to place a flier, perhaps with a coupon, in welcome baskets that are often given to new home owners. Contractors are also a great link to potential customers. Speak with local contractors about how you can become their preferred paint provider. Also consider sponsoring a local little league team or a sporting event. Events such as these provide great exposure for your painting business.

    • 4

Place an ad in your local newspaper. Get the most out of you money by asking the newspaper's advertising representative a few key questions. Find out which day of the week has the highest readership. Ask about promotions or sales. Be sure to ask about special sections that the newspaper might be printing that would target potential customers.

    • 5

Create a page for your paint business on a social-networking website and invite your friends to join. These sites are an easy and inexpensive way to tell all of your friends and acquaintances about your business and what specials you might be offering.
