How to Remove a Cat Urine Smell From a Couch
Cats bring joy and companionship into your life. Unfortunately, those adorable fuzzy balls of cuteness can also leave behind difficult-to-remove urine stains and odors on your couch. Cat urine is ammonia-based and leaves an unpleasant and pungent fragrance. When a cat urinates on your couch, the urine can soak into the fabric. Things You'll Need
- Paper towels
- Distilled white vinegar
- Spray bottle
- Towel
- Baking soda
- Vacuum with attachments

Blot fresh cat urine with paper towels. Continue blotting until no more urine can be absorbed. Discard the paper towels.

Pour distilled white vinegar into a spray bottle.

Spray the area of the couch that has the urine stain with the vinegar. Vinegar is a natural deodorizer that neutralizes the cat urine and removes the odor.

Allow the vinegar to soak into the couch for 30 minutes to an hour.

Spray more vinegar onto the area. Blot the excess vinegar with a towel.

Sprinkle baking soda liberally onto the area. Allow to stay on the couch for several hours or--preferably--overnight.

Remove the baking soda with a vacuum equipped with a hand-held upholstery attachment.

Wipe the area clean with a damp cloth.

Repeat the process until the stain and odor is gone.
