FreeCreditReport.com was founded in 1995 to give consumers "quick and inexpensive access to their credit histories," according to the company's website. Despite its name, the service it is not really free. As of early 2015, to get your credit report you must first enter your credit card number and you will then be charged $1 for your first credit report, plus you will be enrolled in a seven-day trial membership. After the trial, you will be charged $14.99 per month until you cancel or unsubscribe.

If you want to unsubscribe from FreeCreditReport.com, you must call the company at 1-877-481-6826. You will need to provide the operator with your account information so that your account can be canceled. You’ll need your full name, the email address you used when you signed up, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Operators may ask for other information that you provided when you signed up to verify your identity. Be sure to call within the trial period if you don’t want your credit card to be charged the monthly fee.
