How to Verify a Small Business License Number in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is an attractive vacation spot for many, which makes it a booming town for businesses owners. Unfortunately, as is the case in many vacation spots, some businesses may not be licensed to operate and are not likely to adhere to any regulations set by the state for ethical service to customers. It is always best to verify a business license number to avoid a scam.

Instructions

    • 1

Proceed to the "Business Licenses" page on the official website for the City of Las Vegas (see Resources).

    • 2

Click the "I want to search for existing businesses" link close to the top of the page. This will take you to a page with various fields you can use to search for a business.

    • 3

Select a search method in step 1. You can search for a business by its name, address, license number, owner name and business category. You can also search for business licenses issued within the last seven days.

    • 4

Enter the number of results you wish to display per page. The page can display 2 to 100 licenses. Enter a specific identifier or keyword for the business in step 3. You may have the text wrap in the columns to fit the screen by clicking the box in step 4.

    • 5

Click the "Search Now" button in step 5. This will display a list of businesses along with their license numbers and other pertinent information.

    • 6

Contact the city. You can also obtain information about a business license from the City of Las Vegas Department of Finance and Business Services Business Services Division. Call the department at 702-229-6281.
