How to Take a Cutting From a Peach Tree
Peach tree cuttings are an easy way to introduce new trees into your garden using existing peach trees. Propagation from tree cuttings allow for new trees without having to buy them. You simply take a branch from an existing peach tree and encourage rooting. Once the cutting develops roots, it will continue growing, to eventually become a tree. Does this Spark an idea?

Choose new growth for best results. The cuttings should be made from softwood or semi-hardwood, according to Washington State University Extension. Make sure the branch is strong and healthy. Avoid cuttings that show signs of disease.

Remove any buds or leaves on lower half of the branch.

Prepare a 50/50 mix of vermiculite and peat moss.

Fill your pot with your 50/50 mix.

Dip the bottom of the branch in rooting hormone to encourage root growth. This is not necessary but does provide an advantage.

Place your cutting in your 50/50 mix. Make sure the soil around the cutting is firm.

Water your cutting regularly and keep soil moist. Retain moisture by covering your cuttings with a clear plastic bag, advises North Carolina State University Extension.
