Microsoft Expression Web Tutorial
Expression Web is a Microsoft product that is used to create websites and then publish these sites to an online hosting service. Expression Web replaces the older and less-sophisticated Web editing program FrontPage, which Microsoft discontinued with the introduction of expression Web. Expression Web has many of the advanced features offered by other products like Dreamweaver, such as CSS and layers. These features make is possible for the user to create a much more impressive and effective page.

Load any images, such as drawings, photos or logos, or graphics for onto your computer, saving them all to the same folder.

Draw out on paper a representation of what you want you Web page to look like, deciding things like where to place banner and navigation buttons, the color scheme you want and the text you will be using.

Open Expression Web. Select "File" from the menu and choose "New." From the options, choose Web Site." In the dialog that appears, select the "Web Site" tab. Then under "General" choose "Empty Web."

Replace the site name listed in the path shown at the bottom with the name you want for your site. Then click "OK."

Select "File" from the menu and choose "New." From the options, choose "Page."

Right-click on the page in the view and from the options choose "Properties." Type in a page title. Then click the "Advanced" tab and set all the "Margins" to 0. Click "OK."

Go to the "Layers" palette on the lower ting and click on the "New Layer" button. Click on the listed layer and name it "container." Select the layer in the view and drag the sides to expand it to the size you want for your overall page. In the "properties" on the left, set the layer to "center" on the page.

Click inside the "container" layer. Then click on the "New Layer" button to create a layer for your banner. Name it "banner." Make it the size your want for your banner.

Repeat step 8 to create other layers with the "container" layer for all of the elements of your page. When you are done, right-click inside each element in turn and use the "Insert" function to place your images and graphics on your page. To make your buttons click-able, right-click on them and choose "Hyperlink." In the dialog and the hyperlink for that button.

Repeat this process to create all the other pages for your site. Select "File" from the menu and choose "Publish." In the dialog that appears, enter the publishing address your host has provided and click "Publish."
