How to Clean a Forschner Knife
Forschner knives are created by the same company that makes the famous Swiss army knives. Forschner knives have sharp, easy to care for, stainless steel blades. Like all knives, these last longer if kept clean and well-maintained. Cleaning is very simply. Forschner knives are even dishwasher safe--however, for better care of these knives you should hand wash them when possible. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Put on thick rubber gloves to give your hands at least some protection from the sharp blades. Fill your kitchen sink partway full of hot water and add liquid dish detergent. Use at least a drop of detergent per knife.
-
2
Dampen a soft cloth in the water. Hold one knife by the handle and careful run the soapy cloth down the side of the blade. Turn the knife over and rub clean the other side.

3
Use a toothbrush, dampened in the soapy water, on serrated Forschner knives. Brushing these will help remove stuck food particles better than wiping them with a cloth (and you lessen the risk of getting cut or snagging the cloth on the edges).
-
4
Use the toothbrush to clean around the base of the handle, where it meets the blade, as well. Food and dirt often get trapped in this area.
-
5
Rinse off the knives under warm running water. Dry them well with a towel and then place them in your dish drainer so any moisture remaining will evaporate. Cadcutlery.com recommends storing the knives immediately after they have finished drying. Store them in a knife drawer or block to protect the blade from dulling.

Tips & Warnings
Do not place knives in a sink full of other dishes. Not only can this dull a knife blade when it rubs against other objects, but it is more difficult to see and you increase the risk of getting cut.
