How to Delete Photoshop Caches
Adobe Photoshop is a powerful raster based graphics program. Since as a raster type program it creates images that it produces are made up of individual pixels rather than geometric shapes (such as a vector graphics program produces). While this can result in amazingly detailed images, it can also place a strain on your computer's memory resources. In particular, your RAM might be overwhelmed by the fact that Photoshop stores in the cache a long list of changes you have made, as well as anything you have placed on the clipboard. There are ways to address this problem when you computer slows down in the middle of a project, but each has its drawbacks.

Select "Edit" from the menu and click "Purge." From the options listed choose "Undo." After this action, you will not be able to click Undo to back out of the last step. If this does not help, continue to the next step.

Select "Edit" from the menu and click "Purge." From the options listed choose "Clipboard." This action will cause you lose lose the last that you copied to the clipboard unless you have already pasted it in. If the program is still running slow, move onto the next step.

Select "Edit" from the menu and click "Purge." From the options listed choose "History." This step is rather drastic, since you will entirely lose the ability to back out of any of the actions you have taken in the document up to this point.
