How to Change the Exchange Mailbox Quota

Microsoft Exchange Server contains all the mailboxes, contact lists and calendars you use in your email client. Exchange has a default mailbox size for an average user. However, you may want to change that quota if you receive a large number of emails daily. You may also need to change that quota if you receive and store big attachments in your mailbox.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Start" button and select "All Programs." Scroll up to find the folder for "Microsoft Exchange." Click on it and select the menu command for "Exchange Management Console." You will require administrative privileges to access this tool.

    • 2

Click on "Recipient Configuration." Click on "Mailbox." This will display a list of all the mailboxes stored in your Exchange Server.

    • 3

Click to highlight the mailbox with the quota you wish to change. Right-click and select "Properties." Click on the tab that says "Mailbox Settings."

    • 4

Click on "Storage Quotas." Hit "Properties."

    • 5

Clear the check mark next to "Use mailbox database defaults." Type the storage size you want as your mailbox quota.

    • 6

Click on "OK" to end task.
