How to Troubleshoot a Sony Stereo CD Player Power Supply

Fix your stereo power supply problems.

Every Sony stereo system requires a power source, whether it's a direct line to an electrical outlet or inserted batteries. If your Sony CD player isn't working, your problem could be with the power supply.

Instructions

1. Inspect the cable running from the CD player into the wall outlet. Make sure there are no cuts or chew marks in the cable, a common occurrence with animals in the house. If there is damage to the cable, wrap the cuts with electrical tape for insulation.

2. Unplug the power cable running from the CD player and insert it into a different electrical outlet. Outlets can burn out and not function. Plugging the cable into a different outlet may correct your problem.

3. Change the batteries in the CD player. When the batteries begin to dry out the CD player has trouble maintaining power.

4. Look for glass fuses on the back of the CD player that control the unit's power distribution. If the fuses are black or broken, pick up some new ones at an audio or home improvement store.
