How to Copy a Global Address List to Contacts

The Global Address List in Outlook stores contact information of all the users of an organization or a company. It contains details like address, phone number, email and much more. The Global Address List is often used as a directory to find a person by name or company alias. You may want to copy the Global Address List to your contact list to have faster access to the company directory. This process may take a few minutes, depending on the size of your company's Global Address List.

  • Launch Outlook.

  • Click on "Tools" and select "Address Book." This will open the Address Book dialog box.

  • Click on "Options" on the "Tools" menu.

  • Click on your contacts folder under "Keep personal addresses in." Hit "OK."

  • Click on an entry and press "Ctrl" + "A" to select all the entries in your Global Address List. Right-click on the highlighted list and select "Add to Personal Address Book" or "Add to Contacts." Wait patiently as Outlook copies all the entries in your Global Address List to your contacts folder.
