Instructions

    • 1

Shut off the water valves in your home. If you have electrical appliances on your countertops, you will also need to turn the electricity off to your kitchen. Use a wrench to disconnect the plumbing and water lines under the sink.

    • 2

Unscrew the old countertops from the cabinets. Have a partner help you remove the countertops.

    • 3

Measure the top of the cabinets with a measuring tape. Add approximately 3/4 inch for each side that the countertop will overhang. Transfer the measurements to both sides of the countertop.

    • 4

Place clear tape on the laminated side of the countertop where it will be cut. This will prevent the Wilsonart laminate countertop from chipping as it is cut. Flip the countertop over to the back side.

    • 5

Use a circular saw to cut the countertop at the marked measurements. Always cut Wilsonart laminate countertops from the backside of the countertop.

    • 6

Measure the area for the sink cutout. Mark the measurement on the countertop. Place clear tape along the line that needs to be cut. Use a drill to make a small hole where you can begin cutting the sink hole. Place the blade of a jig saw into the hole and cut out the sink area.

    • 7

Screw the countertop into place on the cabinets. Before screwing the cabinets into place, check to make sure your screws will not go all the way through the countertop and pierce the laminate surface.

    • 8

Apply an end cap kit to the unfinished countertop ends, following the manufacturer directions.

    • 9

Apply a bead of caulk between the countertop and the wall. Smooth the caulk with your finger.
