How to Remove the Gas Tank on a 6.5 Tecumseh Go Kart Motor

Remove the gas tank from a Tecumseh engine.

Keeping your go-kart engine maintained is a must in order to ensure all the parts function properly. Sometimes, though, your engine will ultimately break down over time or need a repair. A common breakdown that occurs on Tecumseh engines is a deteriorating gas tank that leaks. You will need to remove the old gas tank and replace it with a new one to prevent a fire on the go-kart engine.

Things You'll Need

• Flat-head screwdriver
• Gas can
• Wrench set

Instructions

1. Locate the gas hose clamped to the base of the gas tank on the Tecumseh engine.

2. Unscrew the clamp with the flat-head screwdriver and slide the clamp down the hose.

3. Pull the hose off and direct it into the gas can.

4. Locate the two bolts holding the bracket attached to the base of the gas tank to the engine frame. Unscrew the bolts with the proper wrenches and pull off the gas tank.
