How to Play C Flat on the Violin
The violin is an extremely well-known and popular instrument for beginners and professionals alike. Many young children begin their musical careers playing the violin in a school orchestra. Learning the particular notes on the violin is an essential task for any beginning player. If you want to learn how to play the C flat, more commonly referred to as B natural, you can do so easily with the proper placement of your fretting hand on the violin's fingerboard.

Identify the A string on the violin. If you are looking at the violin in an upright position, the A string is the third string to the right. While holding the violin in the proper playing position, the A string is the third string away from your body.

Press the tip of your index finger down onto the A string approximately one inch down the neck of the fingerboard, away from the head of the violin.

Strike the A string with the thumb of your non-fretting hand. The note you are playing is a B natural, also known as a C flat.
