How to Configure a Qwest DSL Modem
Qwest provides a high-speed modem and Easy-Install Kit with each DSL subscription. To configure your Qwest DSL modem, connect the modem to your computer and walk through the configuration wizard that comes with the installation CD. If you misplace your CD you can still configure your modem straight from your computer as long as you have your account username and password.

1
Plug in your modem and connect it to your computer. Follow the instructions that come with your Quest Easy-Install Kit, and make sure your service activation date has passed or you won't be able to get online. Restart your computer after you install your modem.

2
Insert the installation CD. The CD should automatically open and take you to the configuration wizard. If it doesn't, simply go to My Computer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) and double click on the "QwestInstall" icon. You'll need to enter your account username and password to configure your connection.

3
Open any web browser. If you used the installation CD you should be online. If you don't have your CD, when you open the browser window the modem will automatically connect to the Qwest modem setup page. You should see your modem's make and model displayed on the page. Enter your username, password and any other account verification information. Your modem will then be configured and ready to use.

You may have to manually configure your account. If the previous methods don't work, check again to verify your service activation date has passed and your DSL account is active. If it is, open the Control Panel (Windows) or System Preferences (Mac) and open Network (both systems). You can manually set up a new connection in either operating system by choosing "Set up a connection" (Windows) or clicking the plus sign to add an account (Mac). This method requires you to know your DNS settings from Qwest, so you may need to contact customer support for assistance.
