How to Download Music From Multiple iTunes

How to Download Music From Multiple iTunes thumbnail
Use your iPod with multiple iTunes.

Syncing an iPod with your iTunes library will let you move audio files from the library onto your iPod. When you try to sync that same iPod with an iTunes library located on a different computer, however, the iTunes software will attempt to automatically remove everything from that iPod. Fortunately, the sync settings on your iPod can be altered. Turning the iPod's automatic sync setting off will give you the ability to use that device with multiple computers.

Instructions

  1. Change Sync Settings

    • 1

Connect the iPod to the computer that has the iTunes library you wish to sync with your iPod. The iPod connects to that computer via the portable player's USB cable.

    • 2

      Open iTunes on the computer.

    • 3

Click the iPod name or "iPod" category on the left side of iTunes, located under the "Devices" option.

    • 4

Click the "Summary" tab found at the top of iTunes.

    • 5

Click on "Manually manage music and videos" located in the middle of iTunes. Click "Apply" located at the bottom of the program to save the setting on the iPod.

    Add Music to iPod

    • 6

Click the "Music" option under the "Library" category, located inside the left iTunes column.

    • 7

Choose all of the music in the center of iTunes that you want to add onto your iPod by clicking on the files.

    • 8

Drag all of the chosen music files to the iPod, still listed under "Devices." The selected music will be transferred to your iPod.

Tips & Warnings

  • The steps listed in Section 1 only need to be performed once in order to turn on the "Manually manage iPod" setting for that particular iPod. The steps listed in Section 2 must be performed with every iTunes library you wish to sync with the iPod.

  • You can only move iTunes Store music files from five separate iTunes account onto one iPod. This doesn't apply to iTunes files that weren't purchased from the iTunes Store.
