How to Fix an Eee PC Keyboard

Save

If the keyboard on your Asus Eee PC laptop has become damaged or broken, you are probably very worried. After all, it's from this keyboard that all the features on your laptop are accessed. But there's no need to panic just yet. These keyboards are designed to be easily removed from the computer for replacement purposes. All it takes is a little concentration and a few moments of your time.

  • Turn off your Asus Eee laptop and remove the power cable, if it is connected. Then slide the battery out of its bay on the underside of the computer.

  • Open the screen and press up on the three clips just above the keyboard. They are located directly above the F1, F6 and F12 keys.

  • Lift the keyboard up while simultaneously holding these tabs. Set the keyboard aside.

  • Replace any broken keys on the keypad by fitting them over their appropriate spaces and pressing down until they snap into place. This is really the only home fix you can perform. If there are any other problems with your Asus, such as a cracked keyboard, you will have to replace it with a new one (available from your Asus Retailer or online).

  • Fit the repaired or brand new keyboard over the computer until the tabs lock in place. The keyboard on your Eee is now fixed.
