Fill the cracks before it becomes a big problem.

Luckily, you can repair the bricks yourself for a lot less than having a professional do the work for you. The materials you need for this job can be purchased at almost any hardware store. In order to seal the bricks, you'll need to do the job when it's at least 50 degrees F outside so the joints will dry properly. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the bricks with a shop vac. This will help suck all the dirt and dust off the bricks and they will be ready to be grouted.

    • 2

Place the masking tape over the faces of the bricks, leaving the joints exposed. You can use a knife to cut the masking tape to get better coverage of the face surfaces.
Put the grout mix in a container and add water. Mix well until it is a thick consistency. Let sit for about 15 minutes before using.

    • 3

Run a damp sponge along the wall that you are fixing, which makes the mix go on more smoothly. Apply the grout with a coarse-fibered paintbrush, following the old grout lines. Use short, diagonal strokes to make sure the grout is getting into the seams. Remove the masking tape before the grout sets and is dry. Use the sponge to wipe off any excess mix.
