How to Change the Start Up Programs in Windows 64

The 64-bit version of the Windows operating systems (XP, Vista and 7) can run 64-bit programs and take advantage of higher amounts of RAM, as compared to 32-bit versions of the operating systems. As far as startup programs go the process to modify the startup programs in the 64-bit versions of XP, Vista and 7 is the same as the process to make changes in the 32-bit versions.

      Click on the "Start" button and click "Run" to open the Run prompt window.

      Type "msconfig" into the Run window and then press the "Enter" key.

      Click on the "Startup" tab to see the list of programs that start up with the computer.

      Uncheck the boxes next to program names that you no longer want to start with the computer. Check boxes next to program names that you do wish to start with the computer.

      Click on the "OK" button to save your settings. Restart the computer to see the results of your changes.
