How to Get a Discount Rate for a Las Vegas Hotel on the Strip
While Las Vegas offers up cheap hotel rooms, most of these rooms are located away from the Strip. The hotels on the Strip, such as the Luxor, Mandalay Bay and Caesar's Palace, are usually more expensive than other hotel rooms in Las Vegas. However, if you are determined to stay in a hotel on the Strip, it is possible to find a discount rate for a hotel room. This way, not only are you not paying too much, but you can stay right by the excitement on the Strip.

Getting a Discount Rate on a Las Vegas Strip Hotel
-
1
Search for discounts on Las Vegas hotels using the Internet. Websites such as Expedia, Travelocity and Hotel.com usually have specials for Las Vegas Strip hotels.
-
2
Look at the discounted prices for the hotels and compare them to the actual prices of the rooms listed on the hotels' websites. This way, you will know how much money you would be saving.

-
3
Book the hotel that offers the best value for the discount. This does not necessarily mean the cheapest room, but it means the cheapest room for what you are getting. For instance, a $70 per night discount rate in a corner suite at the Venetian is a better value than a $50 per night discount rate in a small room at the Flamingo.
-
4
Book your hotel online with your credit or debit card, and make sure you are comfortable making the transaction online. If you do not feel comfortable using your credit or debit card over the Internet, websites such as Expedia and Travelocity sometimes give you a number which you can call.

Tips & Warnings
If you prefer not to book any hotel over the internet, you can walk around the Strip and ask the front desk about hotel discounts. Granted, your odds of finding a hotel discount are much smaller, but it is worth a shot.
Consider your situation. Are you traveling with friends? How much money do you have? Questions like these will influence what constitute good Strip hotel discounts and which ones don't. For instance, if you are traveling with a group of five people with a little bit of money to spend, a $100 per night discount at a VIP suite at the Mirage really means $25 per night per person, so it would be a good idea to go with that. On the other hand, if you are just traveling with your spouse or by yourself with only $200 to spend, this might be out of range---unless, of course, you win $1,000 at the casino.
When looking for hotel discounts, stick strictly to reputable travel websites. If the website looks "sketchy," chances are you could be getting scammed out of your money. In other words, you would be entering your credit debit card number online without even getting a hotel room.
