How to Install Yahoo! Messenger When "Could Not Open Install.Log.File" Appears

Following the release of Yahoo! Messenger 9.0, Yahoo! was made aware of a bug in its Messenger install software. For many users, the installation process would stop at 99 percent, and a message would pop up stating "install.log file cannot be found." A newer version of Yahoo! Instant Messenger was released later (9.0.0.2136) with an updated installation system. Learn how to successfully install the newest version of Yahoo! Instant Messenger.

      Open a web browser and visit the Yahoo! Messenger homepage (see "Resources").

      Click the "Download Now" button to download the installation package to your system.

      Double-click the downloaded file and follow the step-by-step instructions. This installation package will overwrite anything that might have been installed before you reached the "install.log file" error in the previous version.
