How to Install a Linksys Wireless Notebook Card

Install the Linksys wireless notebook card into a cardbus slot.

Wireless notebook cards, such as the Linksys Wireless Notebook Adapter, allow for connectivity between notebook computers and wireless networks. These adapters also provide Internet communication over networks that share their Internet connections with users. The Linksys wireless adapter is a plug-and-play device that allows for automatic installation using the network configuration utility provided with the adapter.

Instructions

1. Insert the installation disc into the optical drive. An autorun program launches automatically to begin the installation procedure.

2. Click the "Click here to start" button to begin the installation process.

3. Read the end-user license agreement and click "Next" to continue.

4. Insert the Linksys wireless notebook card into a vacant cardbus slot on the notebook computer. Ensure that the label is facing up toward the keyboard. The card locks into place if inserted in the proper orientation. The standard cardbus slot is 2.12 inches wide and 3.37 inches deep, and can be located on either side of the laptop.

5. Click the "Next" button. This begins the automatic network and hardware configuration procedure. The process may take several minutes depending on the efficiency of the notebook computer.

6. Click the "Finish" button to end the installation program.
