How to Convert WAV to MIDI With Mac
The WAV file container, pronounced "wave" and short for Waveform audio, contains audio data and allows for adjustable bit rates and sampling rates, making it an ideal format for audio recording. Some audio authoring software requires the MIDI format, used primarily by digital instruments for recording audio data. On Macs and PCs, multiple online services will convert WAVs into MIDIs for no charge.

Open any browser, such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, and go to media-convert.com. Click "Choose File," locate the WAV you wish to convert in the pop-up menu, and click "OK" to choose it.

Opt for "WAV" as your input sound format in the drop-down menu. Next, choose "MIDI" as your target output format.

Click "OK" to convert the Waveform file. After the conversion completes, click the link in the pop-up to download the MIDI.

Disregard this article. The author seems to believe that you midi is a format of a sound file. It isn't. Midi is a way of giving instructions for a synthesizer to play musical notes. Making a midi file from an audio file means that the notes in the audio file have to be automatically detected - a task that is harder than speech recognition. In other words, it is a highly sophisticated process, and we are on the cutting edge of being able to do it. (Read: in most cases it cannot be done.)
