How to Convert an MPGA to an MP3

Save

According to fileinfo.com, MPGA files are simple MP3 files with a different extension. Most MP3 players should be able to open MPGA files in the same way they open MP3 files, but in rare cases of programs not recognizing MPGA files, users can put them in standard MP3 format. Converting them is simple, taking just a few seconds and requiring no software.

Changing an MPGA to MP3 in Windows

  • Use Windows Explorer to locate the MPGA file.

  • Right-click the MPGA file and select "Rename" from the menu.

  • Delete the ".mpga" part of the file name and replace it with ".mp3" (without quotation marks).

  • Click another file to confirm the changes. The file should now have ".mp3" at the end and be playable by all compatible software.

Changing an MPGA to MP3 on a Mac

  • Select the MPGA file and press "Command + i" (the command key has the Apple logo on it).

  • Delete the ".mpga" part of the file name in the "Name & Extension" box and replace it with ".mp3" (without quotation marks).

  • Click the red "X" in the top left corner of the window to apply the changes. The file should now open as an MP3 and be playable by all compatible software.
