How to Enable Javascript on Your PC

Quickly enable JavaScript by adjusting your Web browser settings.

JavaScript is a widely used scripting language supported by all major Web browsers. Though it can be used for many helpful purposes, such as calculation, form validation and in-page refreshing, the language is most commonly known for its ability to enable pop-ups and browser redirects. Many people choose to disable JavaScript and prevent it from running on their system. Because the language is executed by your Web browser, not your PC's operating system directly, you must enable JavaScript by adjusting the browser's settings.

Instructions

Using Internet Explorer

1. Open an Internet Explorer browser window.

2. Click "Tools" in the top menu bar and select "Internet Options." If you do not see the top menu bar, press the "Alt" key to select it.

3. Select the "Security" tab.

4. Click the "Custom level" button.

5. Scroll down the list of options until you find the "Scripting" heading.

6. Set the Active Scripting setting to "Enable."

7. Click "OK" on the each of the next two screens to confirm the change.

Using Firefox

1. Open a Firefox browser window.

2. Click "Tools" in the top menu bar and select "Options."

3. Select the "Content" icon near the top of the resulting window.

4. Check the box labeled "Enable JavaScript."

5. Click "OK" to confirm the change.

Using Opera

1. Open an Opera browser window.

2. Click "Tools" in the top menu bar and select "Preferences."

3. Select the "Advanced" tab and click the "Content" item on the left side of the window.

4. Check the box labeled "Enable JavaScript."

5. Click "OK" to confirm the change.
