Baby cowboy boots, or cowboy-themed booties, are an adorable way to accessorize with western-themed baby clothes. In addition, the boots sit higher onto the baby's legs than regular booties, providing a sock-like fit that will remain in place. These instructions create a standard-sized, newborn set of baby cowboy boots. If the baby is older, measure his feet for a perfect fit.
Things You'll Need
- Cotton knit fabric
- Interfacing, iron-on
- Sewing machine
- Leather rope
Cut out the Pieces
Cut out two ovals that are three inches long by 1-1/2 inches wide. These will be the soles of the boots.
Cut two matching rectangles that are four inches wide by two inches long. These will be the tops of the boots.
Cut two matching pieces that are six inches long by two inches wide. These are the legs of the boot. Cut two additional matching pieces for the legs out of interfacing. Iron the interfacing onto the wrong side of the matching leg pieces.
Pin the pieces so that they are right sides together and form the boot wrong side out.
Sew along the edges with a zigzag stitch, using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Be sure and reinforce your seams by backtracking at the beginning and end of each piece.
Cut all the loose threads and turn the boots right side out.
Detail the boots by sewing leather rope around the bottom edge using a needle and thread.
