      Start your computer and log in as a user with Administrative privileges. Once logged in, insert the SQL Server 2000 CD into the computer.

      Click on the "SQL Server 2000 Components" section and click "Install Database Server." Click the "Next" button twice.

      Click on "Create new instance..." and click the "Next" button. Click on the "Server and Client Tools" section, click "Next" and then check the "Default" box.

      Click "Next," click on "Typical," click "Next" again and then click "Next."

      Click "Next" two more times, enter in your SQL Server 2000 license information and then click the "Continue" button. The installation starts and—once it finishes—check the "Yes, I want to restart my computer" check box and click "Finish" to reboot the computer.
