Perform an Internet search on merchant accounts. You should find a company that has been in business for a few years and offers credit card processing for the Internet and/or wireless use. Take note of their fees and application process.

Find a merchant account company that meets your requirements, and has fees that sound reasonable to you, and complete their application process. You will need to provide your business and banking information.

Order any necessary equipment or software after you have been approved. Install software if needed and begin to accept credit cards.

Closely monitor all incoming merchant account transfers. Verify the merchant is sending the correct dollar amount and that the appropriate fees are being withheld.
