How to Find Jobs That Are Hiring Right Now

Use a variety of methods to find job openings.

After getting laid off, you thought finding a new job would be a piece of cake. After all, you have a considerable amount of experience, a good education and excellent interview skills. Then the weeks started to pass with no replies to the resumes you sent out, and you realized that this may be harder than you thought. You need a new job and you need to find out who is hiring right now.

1. Read the business section of the newspaper. Companies that are buying out others or winning big contracts may need help.

2. Look for construction. Stores and businesses that are building facilities will also be hiring.

3. Join the organizations in your field and socialize. You may become aware of new job openings through networking.

4. Check craigslist. Many local employers post available jobs daily.

5. Attend job fairs. Companies participating in job fairs are hiring. Research the companies, dress well and be prepared to find opportunities.

6. Ask friends, family and former co-workers. Sometimes the best source for a job could be those who are closest to you.

• Keep a few extra copies of your resume with you, or in your car. You never know when an opportunity will come up. That doctor's visit with your grandmother might lead to an interview for the receptionist position at the doctor's office.
